Sueann's Dad Attends Special Event For Victims' Rights Week

April 23rd - April 29th marks a very important week all across the US. This week is known as Victims' Rights Awareness Week. Allover the country events were held with guest speakers to remember those lost due to a violent crime.
On Friday, April 28th, a special event for the 9th Judicial Circuit Court System was held in Ellijay Georgia. Sueann Ray's father, Danny Jenkins made it a point to be there for his daughter Sueann who became a victim on August 26, 2005. His appearance will be one of many now that he's decided to make sure that no other young woman suffers the same fate as Sueann.

Balloons for the victims were released as words were spoken about the importance of remembering them and continuing the journey for justice.

Jenkins refuses to let the public forget about his daughter and continues to push for justice for all those he feels is responsible for Sueann's murder. He tells others that the must not give up and lends words of support.

On April 9, 2006, Sueann would've turned 27 years old. This was the first birthday that her family celebrated without her. It was one of many difficult days ahead.

Sueann's husband and suspected killer, Quinton Ray will have his next court appearance on September 20, 2006 in a Pickens County court. The wait for justice continues. We have not forgotten about Sueann and we hope that you won't either.

Everybody is Entitled To One Mistake?

Last Friday, March 31, 2006 family members gathered in a Pickens County Court to see and hear the States charges against Quinton Ray and his father Harrold for their suspected role in Sueann Ray's disappearance/murder on August 26, 2005.

After the court proceedings a few individuals spoke to the local news media regarding the death penalty that is now being sought against Quinton Ray (Sueann's husband). To my disbelief, as reviewing the TV footage later that night, an individual who is supporting Ray said that "their family is hurting too, and that this is AMERICA and that everyone is entitled to ONE mistake".
What kind of a mistake are we talking about? A mistake is defined by in the Webster's dictionary

1 : to blunder in the choice of OR 2. to misunderstand the meaning or intention of

I do not believe that "murdering" another individual is a mistake. Mind you, if you acidentally run over someone on the highway, that's an accident - not murder. Murder is intentional and it's definition from Find Law Dot Com is below. Sueann's death was not from natural causes. She did not go up into the woods on Cherokee Gold Trail, dig a hole and then cover herself up. She was murdered and placed there. In AMERICA (as stated previously) it is illegal to murder another individual. If you want to get even more technical, pull out the Ten Commandments "Thou Shall Not Kill".

Let us have our facts straight and in order. It's not ok to classify murder as a "mistake".

State of Georgia Seeks Death Penalty Against Quinton Ray

On Friday, March 31, 2006, District Attorney, Joe Hendricks, Jr. announced in a Pickens County court room that that Quinton Ray would be facing the death penalty for murdering Sueann Ray on the night of Friday, August 26, 2005. Prior to Quinton's appearance, his father, Danny Ray appeared again before the judge to enter his plea for the charges he faces for his role in helping Quinton dispose of Sueann that fateful night. As many already assumed, he entered a plea of NOT GUILTY and he will be having a jury trial at a later date.
The family of Sueann Ray was informed that there was a long hall ahead and it could be up two years before Quinton is brought to trial. This is something that they were preparing to hear.

While it is known that Sueann's case is one that is very special because she was actually located, when so many others are never brought home, it still does not ease the constant pain.
There is no reason why this had to happen and it's difficult to understand what went wrong with Quinton that night. It appears that desperation and jealousy had been building for quite sometime and came to an explosive end on August 26, 2005. The autopsy results still have not been released, and that is something that the family awaits but dreads.
They will appear back in court on April 12, 2006 for the arraigment that was postponed today (March 31, 2006).
Sueann will have justice, no matter how long it takes.

Relative of Sueann Receives Death Threat

As if it was not enough to lose Sueann to a senseless murder, the family is now dealing with more drama. A series of phone calls have come into Danny Jenkins' cell phone where the number is blocked out. Upon his answering the call, the person on the other end of the line says "YOU'RE DEAD"!!! Jenkins has reported this to the DA's office and filed a police report. It is very disturbing to think who is doing this to an already grieve stricken father. Aside from that, it's also against the law.
Sueann's case is not over now that she's been found and given a proper burial. There is a possible trial ahead for those believed responsible. The people who murdered Sueann committed a cold heartless act. Someone must pay for their actions. These actions lead us to speculate that the taking a stand for Sueann and what happened to her has angered someone to the point they find it necessary to attempt to scare and silence the largest voice in this investigation - that being Sueann's dad (Danny Jenkins). Efforts are being made to determine the calls origin and once that is determined, charges will be filed against the person responsible. We will not be silent for Sueann. A promise had been made to her and it will be kept at all cost.

Pickens Progress Not Making Any Professional Progress

On two occasions a newspaper in Pickens County has printed material that is incorrect regarding the disappearance and now murder of Sueann Ray. In the initial phases of Sueann's disappearance, an article was printed in the Pickens Progress that stated that Sueann had up and vanished on her own accord several times prior to her disappearance on August 26, 2005. The newspaper based the article soley on the mother-in-law, Teresa Ray of Sueann, never contacting Sueann's family for more information before taking these allegations to print. Since the arrest of Sueann's husband and father-in-law, another article has appeared in this newspaper that gives readers false information regarding the now pending murder case against Quinton Ray, who was arrested on Feb. 8, 2006. Their words have led readers abroad to believe that District Attorney's Office has told them that due to financial reasons, that they will not seek the death penalty. At no time has this newspaper ever spoken to the family of Sueann Ray nor asked specific questions to back their swaying comments. In our opinion, this is a tabloid newspaper and should be hanging in the grocery store isles rather than being put in the community's mailboxes each day.
The family of Sueann Ray would like a formal apology for this and would like the community to reconsider before picking up a newspaper that cannot print factual and documented information. If you are seeking to write a good wholesome article that the community will enjoy, it's usually a good idea to gather factual information and speak to the family of the murder victim prior to printing something that is inflammatory to those who are continuing to suffer the loss of Sueann.

Saying Goodbye to Sueann Ray

On Friday, March 3, 2006, family and friends said goodbye to Sueann Ray. Sueann had been missing for 164 days until she was finally found on property near where her inlaws lived.
Although today was a formal event to conclude one phase of Sueann Ray's death, it is only the beginning of a larger task. Now that it is known for sure that Sueann is indeed dead, and not just "missing", a journey for justice has now begun. Sueann's husband and accused killer, Quinton Ray has not entered his plea regarding the charges against him. Either way he pleads will not change the pain that Sueann's family feels and the question "WHY"?
Today, members from the Find Tara Grinstead search group drove from Ocilla, Georgia all the way up here to be @ Sueann's funeral. We were so very grateful for their presence. Representatives from Sueann's group went to Ocilla on two occasions to assist Texas Equusearch and the family of Tara to help search for her. They have returned the favor by coming to be a part of Sueann's service. We thank them so very much for that.

Once Sueann's service concluded, Sueann's father went out to the Canton Wal-mart where Sueann's cross still remains @ the far end of the parking lot where Sueann's van was found. He placed a wreath beside the cross. Many people still visit the location to remember Sueann although it is now known Sueann was never back at that parking space where the van was found.

Family Visits Gravesite Prior to Hearing

Today before a scheduled hearing at 3:30 PM in a Pickens County court, Sueann's family and friends, visited the location where Sueann's body was found.
Walking through the rain and thick mud, we all made our way through the woods. Woods that we wanted to search, but were denied early on. Through a clearing in the trees, there was a mound of dirt. That mound was Sueann's resting place for several months. As we all walked up to the burial, a silence fell across the woods. Not many words were spoken as we all just stood and looked where sweet Sueann had been. Unable to hold his emotions in any longer, Sueann's dad attempted to reach into his pocket to hand me a camera and said, somebody take some pictures of this, because I cannot stay here another minute. He began walking back towards the cars waiting up on the road.
After being there for a few minutes, I think we all just needed to go.
Shortly after the visit, we all gather at the court house to wait for the two accused to make their way into the courtroom. First it was Quinton Ray, who walked in not looking at any one related to Sueann. He showed no emotion the whole time. The gag order was not put in place today and we were thankful. Later Danny Ray walked into the court room, with the same demeanor as his son. He was granted $60,000 bond, and is ordered to wear a GPS device among other things the judge imposed.

Although we will never understand and may never know the full details of what happened to Sueann, it brings some comfort to know that she's been found and we are not having to wonder where she's at.
Tonight I thank GOD that he revealed her location and it brings me back to that bible verse her aunt Sarah Teague has given me so many times. This makes me have hope that others who are like Sueann will be found when God is ready.

Two Kinds of Fatherly Love

Since the phone rang the Monday following August 26, 2005, Danny Jenkins knew his daugther was not coming home. He has told the media, friends and family time and time again that he had no doubts that Sueann was murdered by her husband, now those suspicions are now all too much a reality.
Many times he and others drove by the general area where Sueann was hidden, searching, but did not know where to begin. She has been right there right underneath our noses the whole time and we knew this deep inside.

Desperate that Sueann was moving on, a mistake was made. A mistake that has forever damaged not only Sueann's family's life, but that of Quinton Ray.
Allegedly calling for his father's help shortly after a confrontation went awry to help hide the crime. Father comes to the rescue by helping his son take Sueann's body to a makeshift burial nearby, and then driving her van back to the Wal-mart where she had been earlier so that once it was discovered, people would think Sueann ran away, when in reality she had not. It was all for the love of a child in trouble.
What has happened is irreversible. Sueann was murdered and while maybe in the future it will be possible to forgive those involved, right now we are all very angry and want justice. There is no reason why anybody should take the life of another person. No matter how much we love another person, we are not to conceal or aid those who have taken the life of another.

While we await justice for Sueann Ray, we will say goodbye to her on Friday March 3, 2006. Second Arrest In Sueann Ray Murder Case

On Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, Sueann's father-in-law, Harold Danny Ray was charged with assisting his son with covering up the murder of Sueann. It is believed by authorities that Danny Ray assisted his son with burying Sueann's body and driving her van from his son's house back to the Canton Wal-mart where it was found three days later.
Danny Ray has not been charged with muder, but his charges are as follows: concealing a death, tampering with evidence, and hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
We learned later today that a grand jury has formally indicted Quinton for malice murder, felony murder, kidnapping, concealing a death, and tampering with evidence.
The family of Sueann has suspected that Danny Ray was involved in Sueann's disappearance since the beginning and now those suspicians have more backing. They also believe there are others who have yet to be arrested.
While these arrests give somewhat of a relief to Sueann's family it does not change pain of losing Sueann. Sueann's funeral has been rescheduled, but the date is not being released until later this week. We want to thank everyone for their continued support. It has not been an easy road, and it's far from over. We have Sueann back now, and we can now find the strength to move forward with finding justice.

Funeral Postponed for Sueann Ray

This Friday a difficult decision was made to postpone the scheduled funeral for Sueann. Earlier today when the decision came down, Sueann's body had still not been released from the GBI crime lab in Atlanta. Once Sueann's body is released, her family is having a private autopsy conducted. By the time the private tests are conducted, Sueann would not be ready for the scheduled funeral on the 23rd.
We have spent much time preparing for the upcoming funeral. Several photos have been sent out to be blown up for display at Sueann's funeral, as well as a special funeral booklet that includes special poems and photos chosen by Sueann's sister and father. We want everything to be perfect for the day we must say goodbye to sweet Sueann.
Sueann's funeral is currently on hold, but it will be rescheduled. It is very important that everything be done correctly and to ensure that justice is found for the individuals who are responsible for Sueann's unnecessary death. Memorial for Sueann Ray

We still are currently awaiting Sueann to be released from the GBI crime lab. Once she is released, her funeral will be planned. We had thought about Feb. 22nd, but that date is the same date Quinton Ray will appear back in court so that date is not a possibility. The location of Sueann's memorial has been determined, but no date just yet. The family of Sueann has requested that in lieu of flowers, to please send a donation to Sueann's daughter Charity's education fund. Charity has lost not only her mother, her father is now in custody for murder.

Several people have inquired about the location of Sueann's burial in relation to the Ray family property. We have not been to the burial yet and we are not completely sure the exact distance. We do believe it's within a mile of the Ray property.

Sueann Ray Found - Husband Charged With Murder

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 ended the long search for Sueann Ray. GBI officials, acting on a tip from an informant headed to the deep woods of Northern Cherokee County, where they made the grim discovery of Sueann Ray in a shallow grave.

The discovery of Sueann was made at approximately 8:20 a.m. and then came the moment Sueann’s family has been waiting for. Georgia State Patrol and GBI arrived at Quinton Ray’s residence on Martin Road and placed him under arrest. He was charged with murdering his wife Sueann.

Everyone close to Sueann knew from the day she did not answer her phone nor arrive for work on time that something terrible had happened to her. Sueann would not leave without saying goodbye to her family, especially her daughter. When her van was found backed into the parking lot at Wal-mart those suspicions of Quinton Ray’s involvement grew stronger. Quinton Ray had a distinct way he parked a vehicle. He would always back the car into a spot. This was the way Sueann’s van was found. That alone, was not enough to prove his involvement, but deep inside Sueann’s family knew he had been there.

There were several incidents that had terrified Sueann shortly before she vanished where she had witnessed abuse from Quinton Ray. One incident was when authorities were called to her residence when Quinton broke into the Sueann’s residence, drug her out of bed, downstairs out into his truck where his brother was waiting. Sueann did not file charges against him because she feared the backlash of what would happen once he was released. The incident was never handled.

The next incident that cause Sueann great fear and was the one that basically caused the most distress was when Sueann arrived home from work where she found her puppy dead inside its dog house with a broken neck. Someone had broken the dog’s neck and then placed it back inside its dog house for Sueann to find. The dog had been given to Sueann by a male friend. The same male friend that Quinton Ray would be charged with threatening to kill shortly after Sueann mysteriously vanished.

All of the incidents of abuse were never dealt with properly. One has to wonder had those incidents been dealt with, would Sueann still be alive today?

Quinton Ray appeared before a magistrate judge on Thursday, Feb. 9th to answer to charges that he murdered Sueann. He will be back in court on Feb. 22nd to make his plea for the charges against him. While Sueann is home, it gives us little comfort knowing what happened to her. It is very hard to explain to a child left behind that its mother is not coming home. Not only has Charity Ray lost her mother, she’s lost her father as well.

While a jury has not convicted Quinton Ray of Sueann’s murder just yet, we know that Quinton murdered Sueann. We also suspect that others in his family may have assisted in hiding this terrible mistake. Sueann’s body was found on property adjoining the Ray family’s property. She waited for us to come for her. How many times we rode by there, but didn’t know where to stop.

Sueann was given back to us because of God’s divine timing. Only he knew when it was time to reveal her location. Now he will be the final judge of the man who tried, convicted, and gave Sueann a death sentence with no jury. Quinton will answer for this. The next few weeks will be very difficult as we now prepared for Sueann’s funeral.

Please don’t forget about Sueann and others like her. Every day women are murdered by someone they were in a relationship with. There has to be more help to stop these senseless murders.

Psychics Join Search For Sueann Ray

Sunday, Jan. 29th, some five months after Sueann Ray vanished, two psychic detectives from Arkansas met with Sueann Ray's family and private investigator John Seay to retrace Sueann's steps on August 26, 2005.

The search for Sueann was the second search the psychics from Arkansas conducted this weekend. Their first search with authorities was for Leslie Adams, who vanished October 21, 2005. Adams like Sueann Ray had some prior issues with the man she was seeing when she mysteriously vanished.
Authorities do not believe that their is a connection to the disappearance of Sueann and Leslie. They are connected by the two psychics who claim to be communicating with Sueann and Leslie from the other side.
In an interview with FOX 5 News in Atlanta, the psychic pair claim that Sueann wants justice for what happened to her. Their claims are far fetched to many, but to others, they simply hold out hope that their is some truth in their words.
The findings in Sueann Ray's case yesterday have been turned over to the authorities. From there they will work on the leads and information given to them. For now, Sueann's family continues to wait patiently.

A Night For Sueann Ray - Dec. 18, 2005

Sunday in the crisp night time air, friends and family gathered at the Canton Wal-mart parking lot to participate in a vigil for Sueann Ray. Sueann's has now been missing for over four months. One person at the vigil was probably too small to really understand what was going on, better yet understand why so many people were gathered around a white cross at the far end of the Wal-mart parking lot. That person is Sueann's six year old daughter, Charity.
Since Sueann's disappearance, Charity has been staying with her God mother who was also present at this event.
It is very hard to explain to a child what happened to her mother. She asks many questions her mom. How long before those memories of her mother fade away? How long until Sueann is found and brought home. It is now feared that something more sinister happened to Sueann on August 26, 2005 when she visited her estranged husband, Quinton Ray's house. Although Ray has told family members of Sueann Ray he will take a GBI administered polygraph exam, he has relayed to GBI that he will not be taking it.

In a Pickens County court room late Wednesday, there was a Department of Family and Children Services hearing alongside Quinton Ray and Sueann's family. The findings from today's hearing are under a gag order issued by the judge. It is known that within 20 days there will be yet another hearing regarding custody of Charity Ray.
This will be the first Christmas Sueann's daughter celebrates without her mother. As Sueann's family struggle for understanding, they also struggle to get justice for what they believe was a crime committed against Sueann on Friday, August 26, 2005.
As stated by Danny Jenkins (Sueann's dad) at the close of the vigil this past Sunday.. "as you sit down with your family to have Christmas, please remember Sueann". May this mystery come to a close very soon regarding the whereabouts or final resting place of Sueann.

Three (3) Months - Still NO Answers

Three months today Sueann vanished without a trace. Her disappearance has devastated her family. A cloud of suspicion has formed over Quinton Ray who was the last person to see Sueann the night of her disappearance. Quinton claims that Sueann left his house on her phone that night. He claims that the community has already formed an opinion in their minds about him and his involvement in Sueann's disappearance, although he has yet to schedule a lie detector test with the GBI.
There are too many unanswered questions in this whole thing, and too much time has passed without Sueann coming home. It has become obvious that Sueann met with foul play on Friday, August 26, 2005. She would never have left her daughter or those she loves. When will we finally find out where Sueann is? Three months is half of six months. Six months is half of a year. That is too long for someone you love to be missing with no answers, no nothing.
There is someone who knows what happened to Sueann and where we can find her. The search will not end until she is located.
A new dvd has been created that will likely be playing inside the Canton Wal-mart where Sueann visited that Friday night before her visit to Martin Road where seemed to vanish off the face of the earth. The purpose of the dvd is to show Sueann to the customers inside Wal-mart and possibly jog someone's memory.

The First Holiday Without Sueann

Thursday, November 24th will be Thanksgiving for many families across the United States. It will be a time for families to gather, enjoy a meal together, and visit with one another. For Sueann's family, they will be attempting to get through the first holiday without Sueann.
There will be no way to bypass the constant wondering, "where is sueann"??? It will be very difficult and it'll probably just be a matter of getting through the day. As this holiday arrives and passes, there is someone out there who knows where Sueann is and what happened to her that fateful August night. Do they realize that Sueann has a daughter who will be struggling to understand even more so than the others where mommy is? What can this person possibly be thankful for tomorrow withholding the vital information to allow Sueann to be found?
As we gather at our tables tomorrow to give thanks for the things in our lives that are important. Let us all say a prayer that Sueann can be found before another holiday arrives and passes. We would be thankful if the person or persons who know where Sueann is could call in a tip to give us the location of Sueann. Please don't forget about Sueann tomorrow or any other day. Since the disappearance of Sueann, many people online and in the immediate community have asked "what can I do to help"? There is two major things that can be done to help Sueann. The private searches and investigation for Sueann is extremely expensive. The family desperately needs donations to help continue this search. Another thing that we are getting many emails and questions about is the fact that certain areas have not been searched for Sueann (i,e., family of Quinton Ray's residence). While we have no explanation for this, we have been told to get this matter resolved, to send our phone calls, letters, and faxes to Govenor Sonny Perdue (pictured top right). The family has contacted the Attorney General's Office in Atlanta, GA and they advised that the one to push this matter forward is going to be the Govenor's office. Quinton Ray Speaks To the Media

Late Tuesday afternoon 11 Alive News interviewed Sueann's estranged husband, Quinton Ray. In his interview with 11 Alive News, Quinton claimed that the family and community have already formed an opinion about who is involved in Sueann's disappearance, and that they will not hear of anything different. His tone in this interview was a lot more personable than the previous interviews.
Several people have expressed that maybe Quinton is going to take a step in the right direction and help search for Sueann. Others have posted that they believe he is another Scott Peterson in the making.
As many of you will recall, just last year a California jury sentenced Scott Peterson to die by lethal injection for murdering his pregnant wife, Laci and their unborn son, Conner. Laci vanished on Christmas Eve of 2002. Her disappearance and murder capitvated the entire US.
The family of Sueann hopes that a resolution to this mystery of Sueann's disappearance can be resolved before any holiday has a chance to come and pass. Sueann's family is due to pick her personal items from Quinton Ray on Sunday.

Nov. 14, 2005 - Federal Court In Gainesville, GA

As scheduled on Monday, November 14, 2005, court was held in Gainesville, Georgia. Court was regarding Quinton Ray, his bankruptcy proceedings and Sueann's father, Danny Jenkins who was demanding some of Sueann's personal items returned that were given to her by her now deceased mother. Danny Jenkins would confront Quinton Ray once again outside the main court room asking him to take a polygraph to clear himself in Sueann's disappearance, and he asked why he was being denied simple things that are of no use to Ray such as Sueann's baby teeth and pictures from her childhood. Most of his questions were not answered.
Witnesses do report that Quinton Ray told Danny that he wanted them to be friends again.

Quinton Ray would leave the Gainesville court house avoiding all camera crews from the Fox5 News station who was there to report the proceedings.

What seemed to have ended in a confusing and not so satisfying day, a phone call would come in later. Ray apparently told his spokesperson to have Danny Jenkins come get his stuff tomorrow if he would drop all proceedings that is about to move forward with in the Federal courts. Some of those things are that Jenkins alleges that Quinton Ray forged Sueann's name onto some documents in his bankruptcy proceedings. No word yet on whether or not that deal has been set.

John Seay Meets With Area Churches

Today @ 4 p.m. private investigator, John Seay met with several pastors, deacons, and church officials in Jasper, GA. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the fact that someone may come to a religious person with a deep dark secret that they've been told to tell someone they can trust. It is the hope that someone's heart and mind will be so heavy that they'll turn to someone who will then give us the information necessary to locate Sueann. Seay believes that someone in the nearby community has the information to help solve this case but they are too afraid to come forward. He also has many questions about Quinton Ray and his inability to cooperate with authorities. John Seay's interview discussing all of this was on FOX 5 News Atlanta this Saturday night.

Monday Sueann's family will appear in a Gainesville court room to go before a judge and Quinton Ray to ask for some of her personal items given to her by her now deceased mother. We love and miss Sueann and wish we could get her back home before the holidays arrive.

Find SueAnn Ray - Last Seen August 26, 2005

On Friday, August 26, 2005, Sueann Ray completed her shift at work, went by the Wal-mart Supercenter in Canton Georgia to pick up a few items and then she headed North on I-575 to Martin Road in Jasper where her estranged husband, Quinton Ray resided. She was headed there to pick up her daughter and she was upset. Earlier in that same day Sueann received a phone call from Ray stating that he wanted to pick up the child from school, but during the conversation Sueann heard her daughter in the background talking. She was angry that Quinton Ray had lied to her. That weekend both Sueann and her daughter were due to visit Sueann's dad (Danny Jenkins). Sueann would just go get the child and the plans would be back in order as planned previously - or so she thought.
It is known that Sueann arrived @ Ray's residence and even took a phone call while she was there. Shortly thereafter, her cell phone would go silent, and Sueann would never been seen again.
On Monday, Sueann's father, Danny Jenkins would file a missing person report and later that same afternoon, authorities would locate Sueann's vehicle back at the Wal-mart where she was last known to be that following Friday. The vehicle had been backed into the parking spot at the far end of the shopping center parking lot, away from all store cameras. It appeared there was no abduction that could've occured.
Shortly after Sueann's disappearance, her estranged husband was arrested for threatning another man that he believed was romantically involved with Sueann.He was subsequently released and immediatly retained an attorney. He refuses to speak to authorities regarding Sueann's disappearance and claims Sueann left his residence that night on her cell phone.

This blog has been created to help give more circulation of Sueann's case. We feel that there are more questions than answers and this is extremly disturbing. On this page you will find daily thoughts and information that we can post for the community.
